I’ve been an admirer of various 365 projects or designers and artists that post amazing bits of inspiration daily. This has inspired me to design something each day for the next 31 days. My goal is to ease into it and hopefully keep going for the full 365 days. I’m hoping to push myself further and perfect my skills. So here goes nothing! :)
I’ve been on somewhat of an interior decorating kick lately. New fancy bedspread, picking out paint swatches + color pallets, really thinking about my spaces and what I want to see + feel when I’m in them. You could say I’m designing my home experience.
I’m a crafts(wo)man by nature. There’s nothing that I enjoy more than problem solving with materials & my own two hands. So in this case of “Step away from the computer!” I decided my non-computer creative project would be to sew a quilt for my nephew as a baptism gift. You might think…quilts and boys don’t go together! Well, i have to admit it was quite tricky trying to find fabric for a boys quilt. However, to my delight, I was able to find the perfect fabrics designed by some seriously awesome fabric designers.
My awesomely talented mom helped out in the process by top stitching the front and back together.
Quilt modeled for me by my amazing & supportive husband. :)
What a fun project and a huge thanks to my mom for teaching me to sew when I was younger. I think this tops all those funky bell-bottoms I was obsessed with making. And of course thanks for adding the final touches.
Thanks to Gunnar for putting up with my crazy antics and random creative projects. And of course for modeling this quit.
I just received the Communication Arts Design Annual today and haven’t been able to put it down. There are some seriously kick-ass designers in there and I’m getting quite the inspirational buzz. Check it out!
